Area teams pick up big wins

UNDATED - A big night of high school football Friday night saw several Hall County and northeast Georgia teams pick up wins.<br>
<br>
North Hall beat Johnson 26-18 in the marquee Region 7-AAA game of the evening while East Hall blanked West Hall 23-0 in non-region game.<br>
<br>
Gainesville whipped White County 41-17 in its season-opener and Buford opened its season with a 41-7 thumping of Lumpkin County.<br>
<br>
The win for the Wolves runS their win streak to 46-games, tying the all-time record held previously by Parkview. They can set the record outright next week with a road win against Union County.<br>
<br>
In other action Friday night around Hall County and northeast Georgia, Flowery Branch was beaten 33-13 by Woodland; Pickens beat Chestatee 35-7 and Stephens County demolished Habersham Central 56-21.<br>
<br>
Franklin County beat Commerce 28-21; Jefferson beat Warren County 30-14; Rabun County beat Hayesville (NC) 17-6; and Winder-Barrow rebounded from its loss to Johnson last week with a 21-14 win over Jackson County.<br>
<br>
Apalachee beat Mill Creek 24-7; Wesleyan, one of the favorites in Region 8-AA with Buford, lost to Class A Athens Academy 12-7; Copper Basin (Tenn.) beat Towns County 14-13; and Dawson County beat Forsyth Central 13-0 in a game called at halftime because of lightning.<br>

Elbert County and Cedar Shoals played to a 20-20 tie; Fannin County beat Gilmer 35-16 in a Region 7-AAA game; Hart County beat Glenn Hills 14-7; and South Gwinnett beat South Forsyth 21-0.
