Henry County commissioner acquitted of shoplifting charge

<p>Henry County Commissioner Lee Holman was acquitted of a shoplifting charge after a judge ruled that prosecutors did not prove he intended to leave a Wal-Mart without paying for $6.60 worth of charcoal lighter fluid and peroxide.</p><p>Holman, 55, testified that he put the items in a shopping bag Jan. 13 before walking to other parts of the store in Stockbridge and getting other items. He said the cashier mistakenly thought he already had paid for the peroxide and lighter fluid and put them in another bag.</p><p>Holman said he did not have his glasses on and failed to realize the items were not on the receipt until he was confronted by store supervisors. He said he then offered to pay for the items.</p><p>"I had no intention to deceive anyone whatsoever," Holman testified.</p><p>Holman said he was happy with Friday's verdict by Stockbridge Municipal Court Judge Ernest Blount.</p><p>"I am going to move on with my life," he said.</p><p>___</p><p>HASH(0x28664d8)</p>
