Augusta's Coble wins Georgia Women's Open

NEWNAN - Laura Coble of Augusta shot a 3-under-par 69 Wednesday to win the Georgia Women's Open by two strokes, adding to her resume as the state's top female amateur golfer.<br>

Coble, who has won 10 other titles while being named the Georgia State Golf Association's Women's Player of the Year for six straight years, finished the 36-hole tournament with a total of 5-under 139. She birdied holes 11, 12 and 14, bogeyed the par 3 No. 16, but finished with a birdie on the final hole.<br>

Coble and Diana Ramage of Fayetteville were among five players who began the day at Summer Grove Golf Club in Newnan tied at 2-under 70. Ramage charged ahead and was 7-under before a triple-bogey on the par-5 No. 11 and a bogey on No. 12 to slip to 3-under. She finished with a 71 for a total of 141.<br>

Margaret Shirley (70) of Roswell, Alpharetta's Joan Delk (72) and Linda Hunt (72) of Newnan tied for third at 2-under 142. Delk and Hunt each earned $2,000 in tying for Low Professional.
