GAINESVILLE - Brenau University's Tau Chapter of Alpha Chi Omega recently won the 2004 Progress Award at the organization's National convention.

The award is presented to the collegiate chapter or chapters that have demonstrated the most "quantifiable progress" within the academic year.

Along with three other collegiate chapters, Tau accepted the prestigious award at the Alpha Chi Omega national convention, which was held in Orlando, Florida. Brenau president, Dr. John S. Burd, and Greek Advisor Sara Mayer assisted Tau chapter in their quest for recognition by writing recommendations that identified the chapter's attempts at improvement in several areas throughout the year.

The Brenau Tau chapter was also a finalist in the areas of alumnae/parent appreciation, and the Lyre award, which recognizes the collegiate chapter or chapters that have made the most frequent and/or relevant contributions to the organization's publication, The Lyre.
