GAINESVILLE - A fire that was apparently weather-related caused an estimated $8,000 damage to an old chicken house and its contents in Murrayville Monday night.

Division Chief Mark Arnold of the Hall County Fire Department says the call came in about 9:45 to 5161 Gillespie Road.

"Investigators (say) the fire appears to (have been) caused by lightning." There were thunderstorms in the area at the time.

Chief Arnold says the 12,000-square-foot structure was owned by Charles Gillespie and was used for storing "some vehicles...and other types of equipment."
