Jim Hendricks named executive editor at The Albany Herald

<p>Jim Hendricks has been promoted to executive editor of The Albany Herald.</p><p>Hendricks has served as the Herald's managing editor since April 1997. His appointment was announced Wednesday by publisher Gary Boley.</p><p>Hendricks, 45, replaces Dee Maret, who served as the newspaper's top editor since September 1999. She is leaving June 18 to pursue a real estate career in Daytona Beach, Fla.</p><p>Hendricks has worked numerous jobs at the Herald, including metro editor and news editor, and he has written a weekly humor column for the past 11 years.</p><p>He joined the Herald as a staff writer in June 1983.</p><p>Assistant managing editor Danny Carter was promoted to fill the managing editor post.</p><p>___</p><p>HASH(0x286663c)</p>
