Ellijay water main break leaves town high and dry

ELLIJAY - There have been some big problems in Ellijay, where a Georgia Power contracter breaks a water main, leaving the town high and dry.

Emory DeVord is the director of the Ellijay-Gilmer County Water and Sewer Authority.

"[We have to] not only replenish the reply," DeVord says, "but also disinfect to the standard that EPD has mandated."

And, to be even safer, he's issued a boil water advisory at least until noon Wednesday. A hospital and a retirement home have been affected, and tanker trucks have been donated by surrounding counties and towns in case of a fire.
