Elbert County teen drowns in Lake Hartwell

CLEMSON, S.C. - A teen has drowned while swimming out to a rope swing on Lake Hartwell, authorities said.<br> <br> A diver found the body of Jeremy Pless, 17, of Dewy Rose in Elbert County, shortly after he went under Wednesday afternoon, Pickens County deputy coroner Kandy Kelley said.<br> <br> Some friends also were swimming to the rope swing which was attached to a tree, authorities said.<br> <br> This is the second drowning on Lake Hartwell this year after someone tried to swim too far, Assistant Sheriff Tim Morgan said.<br> <br> The official cause of death was listed as drowning, but an autopsy still must be performed.
