School boards begin tax rate, budget hearings

GAINESVILLE - The two boards of education in Gainesville Monday began a series of hearings on their proposed budgets and tax rates. <br> <br> The Hall County board held one hearing at 11:30 Monday morning and another Monday night (see separate story) and plans another at 5:00 next Tuesday. <br> <br> The Gainesville school board plans three budget hearings before the end of the month: next Monday night and two the following Monday.<br> <br> HALL COUNTY TAX RATE HEARINGS<br> <br> Monday June 14 6:30 p.m.<br> Tuesday June 22 5:00 p.m.<br> <br> The board will hold a called meeting immediately following the hearing on June 22 and expects to take official action to set the millage rate at that time. The rate is expected to reflect a .76 mill increase.<br> <br> All will be held in the board room of the Hall County Government/Education Building at 711 Green Street.<br> <br> GAINESVILLE BUDGET HEARINGS<br> <br> Monday June 21 6:30 p.m. (prior to the regular board meeting at 7:30)<br> Monday June 28 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.<br> <br> All will be held in the board room at school system offices on Oak Street.
