Alabama man slain while visiting Cobb County home

<p>A 22-year-old man was charged with murder after shooting a visiting friend in the head, police said.</p><p>Zachary Redmon Diers was being held by Cobb County Police in the death of 21-year-old Timothy Smith of Blountsville, Ala., at the home of Diers' mother in east Cobb County.</p><p>Pamela Diers called 911 at 4:06 a.m. Thursday to report a shooting. Police said Smith was dead when they arrived about seven minutes later.</p><p>Detective Edward Herman said Diers fired a 9mm handgun at Smith while in the kitchen. Pamela Diers and another son were in the house, police said, but they did not release any details on the crime or a motive.</p><p>___</p><p>HASH(0x28681a4)</p>
