Florida's Jeff Corsaletti went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBI as the Gators scored their 11 runs on eight hits. It was enough for Florida starter Justin Hoyman who won his ninth game with no losses in 13 starts this season.
What started as a pitcher's duel was blown wide open in the fifth and sixth inning when the Gators scored 11 runs, five of which were unearned. The nine runs the Gators scored in the sixth inning marked the first time the Gators have scored more than eight runs in an inning this season.
Hoyman improved his record on the season to 9-0, striking out five and giving up only one earned run on 112 pitches in six innings of work. Hoyman and Auburn freshman Mike Felix kept the game scoreless through four innings before both teams scored two runs in the fifth inning
The Tigers grabbed a 2-0 lead in the fifth inning, after scoring two unearned runs. Ben Maitland led off the inning with a walk, and scored when a sacrifice bunt was thrown away into the right field corner. On the error, Sain raced to third base and would later score the second run of the inning on a sacrifice fly off the bat of J.T. Williamson.
In the bottom of the fifth, the Gators cut the lead in half when Jeroloman scored on a wild pitch from Felix and tied the score when Adam Davis hit his sixth home run of the season. Davis' home run chased Felix from the game after a 4 2/3 innings pitched. Auburn reliever, John Madden, closed the inning out by striking out the final Florida batter of the inning.
