JECKYLL ISLAND - Glynn Academy wasn't satisfied just winning a pair of state golf titles Monday. The Terrors took aim at the record book, too.
Glynn Academy swept Class AAAA, winning both the boys and girls championship with record-setting scores at Jekyll Island.
The Glynn Academy boys won their 11th championship and set a 36-hole state mark, shooting 569 on the Oleander course to beat the previous record of 580, the Terrors' winning score in 2000.
Centennial finished second at 584, while Parkview was another eight shots back.
Glynn Academy senior Gordon Strother shot a 4-under 140 to win the individual championship. Teammate Chris Johnson was second, a stroke behind after taking bogey on the final hole.
On the girls side, Glynn Academy broke the 18-hole record by 10 strokes, shooting 140 on the Pine Lakes course. The old mark of 150 was last done by Oconee County, which won the 2003 title.
The defending champions dropped to third this year at 157. McIntosh (153) was second.
Garrett Phillips of Glynn Academy and Margaret Shirley of Lassiter shared the individual crown at 5-under 67, tying the state record posted in 2002 by Newnan's Jean Reynolds.

``I didn't think a 67 would happen,'' Phillips said. ``When I had finished, I thought I had probably won. And then I found out that we wouldn't go for a playoff. I would have liked to.''
The boys were pushed by Centennial, which led by two strokes at the 18-hole break with a 289. Glynn Academy dominated the final nine holes.
``It was kind of like a Kentucky Derby rider,'' Glynn Academy coach Terry Tuley said. ``It wasn't the idea of the jockey being on top; it was the idea of him going to the whip. The people that really held the whip for us today was Centennial. That 289 in that first round was an awakening for us. I don't think that would have happened without the catalyst of Centennial playing so well.''
