Mercer shocks Auburn on road

AUBURN, ALABAMA - Roger Alvarez grounded out to first base in the seventh inning, allowing Andrew Einert to score the winning run as Mercer defeated Auburn 2-1 on Tuesday.

It was the final regular season home game for Auburn (31-22).

Mercer (20-32) broke the scoreless tie in the fourth on Ty Megahee's RBI single that scored Josh Thompson.

Einert's run put Mercer ahead 2-0 in the seventh.

Clete Thomas scored Auburn's lone run in the bottom of the inning on a single by Chuck Jeroloman.

Philip Morrison (4-10) pitched six scoreless innings for the win. He scattered five hits and struck out six.

John Madden (1-2) took the loss after allowing one run in 2 1/3 innings.

Tigers' starter Mike Felix gave up one unearned run on two hits in four innings of work. He struck out four.
