<p>A Bibb County man was sentenced to five years in prison Friday in the death of his son.</p><p>Ramon Reed, 30, pleaded guilty Tuesday to voluntary manslaughter for killing 23-month-old DeQuan Quartez Davis, who died from a lacerated liver on March 23, 2003.</p><p>When Reed first took DeQuan to the Medical Center of Central Georgia, he claimed the boy had fallen off a slide and was knocked unconscious. Defense attorneys later said their client struck DeQuan twice in the stomach to keep him away from an electrical socket.</p><p>Prosecutors, however, said the child was thrown on a bed and then bounced into a wall, causing the fatal injury.</p><p>They asked Bibb County Superior Court Judge Phillip Brown for a 20-year prison sentence, but Brown sentenced Reed to five years, plus 10 years probation, and gave him credit for the one year he already has served.</p><p>___</p><p>HASH(0x286820c)</p>
