Former companion of Nuwaubian leader sentenced for child molestation

<p>A former companion of United Nuwaubian Nation of Moors leader Malachi York has been sentenced to two years in prison for child molestation.</p><p>Kathy Johnson, 35, who authorities say was York's "main wife," also was sentenced Tuesday to 18 years of probation after pleading guilty to seven counts of child molestation.</p><p>York, who led the predominantly black, quasi-relilgious sect from its 476-acre Egyptian-themed farm compound in Putnam County, was convicted in January in federal court on four counts of racketeering and six child molestation-related charges.</p><p>As part of her plea agreement in Putnam County, federal prosecutors agreed to drop their case against Johnson, said Dawn Baskin, an assistant district attorney in the Ocmulgee Circuit.</p><p>A sentencing hearing for York has been scheduled for April 22. Prosecutors have said he likely will get between 20 and 30 years in prison.</p>
