<p>Georgia shot an SEC opening-round record 269 to lead the first round of the Southeastern Conference men's golf championships at the Sea Island Golf Club Seaside Course Friday.</p><p>The Bulldogs are 11 strokes under par and 11 strokes ahead of second-place Alabama, which had an even-par 280, and 12 strokes ahead of third-place Auburn's 281.</p><p>"We picked the right time to shoot low scores, but by no means is it over," said Georgia coach Chris Haack.</p><p>Georgia's team score topped their 2001 opening-round 275 for the best score after the first 18 holes of the tournament.</p><p>David Denham and Brendon Todd each shot 4-under par 66s to lead the Bulldogs.</p><p>Alabama's Clint Provost led all golfers with a 5-under 65, tying an SEC individual first day mark set by Georgia's Todd Thompson in 1988.</p><p>Florida and Tennessee are tied for fourth in the team standings at 283. Kentucky is sixth at 287, followed by South Carolina, 294; Vanderbilt, 295; Mississippi State, 297; Louisiana State, 298; Arkansas, 300 and Mississippi, 302.</p>
