STARKVILLE, MISSISSIPPI - Stephen Head threw his first complete game of the season Sunday, a five-hitter to lead Mississippi past Mississippi State 4-2.

Ole Miss (24-4, 7-2 Southeastern Conference) won two-of-three weekend games against its arch-rival.

Head had eight strikeouts and one walk to earn the win for the Rebels, and his only mistake was Brad Corley's two-run homer in the sixth, which temporarily gave Mississippi State a 2-1 lead.

Ole Miss scored twice in the seventh and added an insurance run in the eighth.

Matt Tolbert, Alex Presley, Chris Coghlan and Head had an RBI apiece for the Rebels.

Losing pitcher Jeff Lacher gave up three runs, two earned, in 6.1 innings. He struck out five with two walks for the Bulldogs (17-10, 3-6).

Ole Miss plays host to Memphis on Tuesday before an SEC weekend series at home against Auburn. Mississippi State travels to Southern Miss for Tuesday and Wednesday games, then visits Kentucky next weekend.
