Lakeview Academy frosh wins oratorical contest

GAINESVILLE - A Lakeview Academy freshman is the winner of the annual Girls Oratorical Contest, sponsored by the Optimist Club of Gainesville.

Katherine Dayton is the daughter of Dr. Sam and Beth Dayton of Gainesville and will compete in the Zone Contest later this month with contestants from the White County, Hall County Breakfast, Cornelia, and Toccoa Clubs.

Kristin Corbett, another freshman at Lakeview, placed second. Kristen is the
daughter of Kim and Jim Corbett,Cumming.

Morgan Peacock, fifth-grader at Oakwood Elementary School was third place winner. Morgan is the daughter of Laurinda Hoover Peacock, Oakwood.

Placing fourth was Stephanie Knezevic, ninth-grader at Lakeview Academy. Stephanie is the daughter of Beba and Elija Knezevic, Gainesville.

Contestants were judged on poise, content of speech, delivery and presentation, and overall effectiveness.

This year's topic for the contest was "Thinking, Working and Expecting the Best."
