DUI, vehicular homicide charges filed in fatal wreck

CLARKESVILLE - A 21-year-old Clarkesville man is free on bond after being charged with two counts of vehicular homicide in a two-vehicle crash that killed a Cornelia couple Monday.

Jonathan Patton is also charged with DUI and driving on the wrong side of the road.

Killed in the Habersham County crash were Doyle Shephard, 68, and his wife, Mary, 67.

The state patrol says the crash happened at the intersection of Demorest Mount Airy Highway and Highway 197.

Two passengers in Patton's pickup were slightly injured.

Patton has been freed on bonds totaling $167,000.
