CUMMING - One person was killed and another injured early Wednesday in a head-on collision during morning rush hour on Peachtree Parkway near Cumming.

Cindy Lou Demeter, 47, of Glen Glade Way in Cumming was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators say Demeter was the driver and sole occupant of a 1999 Toyota Corolla that was northbound on Peachtree Parkway.

According to Forsyth County Traffic Specialist Cpl. Chris Shelton, Demeter's car apparently crossed the center line and collided head-on with a 1998 Toyota Camry that was southbound.

The collision occurred at 7:45 and closed Peachtree Parkway near Bagley Drive in both directions until 9:30.

The Camry was driven by Thi Bich Dao Le, 18, also of Cumming. Ms. Le was transported to North Fulton Medical Center with serious injuries.

An investigation is being conducted to determine what may have caused Demeter's car to cross into oncoming traffic.
