Police: Suspect strangle daughter because of `demon

<p>A man who allegedly told police he strangled his 8-year-old daughter because she had a demon in her was ordered held without bail Tuesday pending a grand jury hearing.</p><p>Quimani Careys naked body was found Jan. 19 inside an extended-stay motel in downtown Atlanta. She had been strangled and stabbed, and her arms and legs had been broken. Pages ripped from a Bible were strewn on and around the body.</p><p>The discovery came after her parents and two small siblings, a 6-year-old girl and a 2-year-old boy, were found walking naked on a frigid night.</p><p>Atlanta police investigator Paul Guerrucci testified during a pretrial hearing that the child fought her father, Christopher Carey, so hard that he had trouble strangling her _ so he asked his wife to help.</p><p>Carey told police his oldest daughter had a demon in her and that he was told to kill her, said Guerrucci as he struggled to describe for the judge how Quimani died.</p><p>The child ... Guerrucci said as his voice broke. After regaining his composure, he continued, The child had been brutally killed.</p><p>Carey, 29, showed little emotion during the testimony and stared at the floor.</p><p>Valerie Carey, 27, is also charged with murder but for now remains at a mental health facility.</p><p>Guerrucci said Christopher Carey told police he first tried to snap the childs neck.</p><p>He said he stabbed her until the knife broke, Guerrucci said. He said the girl was strong and was fighting and he couldnt kill her, so he asked his wife to help.</p><p>Valerie Carey then tried to strangle the girl, the investigator testified.</p>
