Man convicted of murder in 2002 Krystal robbery

<p>A Griffin man has been convicted in the 2002 shooting death of a Krystal assistant manager.</p><p>It took three hours of deliberations on Friday for a Fulton County jury to convict Tyra Dale Lane, 23, of felony murder.</p><p>The charge carries an automatic life sentence in prison.</p><p>Danielle Simpson, 26, was killed during the Nov. 6, 2002 robbery of the College Park restaurant. Lane was a former Krystal employee.</p><p>Lane claimed a friend with a long criminal history committed the robbery, which he didnt know anything about.</p><p>This is a case of robbery, terror, unspeakable brutality and the tragic loss of an innocent life, Fulton prosecutor Kimberly Staten-Hayes told jurors during her opening arguments. When the smoke cleared, Danielle Simpson lay dead with half of her head and face blown away.</p><p>___</p><p>Information from: Constitution</p>
