It wasn't enough, however, to stay on top of the latest Class AAA gabasketball.net boys poll, which was released Monday.
The Vikings (21-2) fell all the way to No. 3 behind unbeaten Carrollton and Westover, which has just one loss. Gainesville, despite the loss to East Hall, climbed into a fifth-place tie with Banneker, the only AAA team to beat East Hall this season. Dublin is No. 4.
White County remained seventh in a tie with Avondale and West Laurens. Hart County rounds out the top 10. Johnson also climbed a spot to 13th after losing to East Hall.
In other northeast Georgia teams, Buford fell out of the Class AA poll while fellow Region 8-AA school Apalachee climbed to 13th. Randolph-Clay remained No. 1.
In Class A, Jefferson stayed at No. 4 behind the nation's top team Southwest Atlanta Christian, Landmark Christian and defending Class A champ Whitfield Academy.
No northeast Georgia teams were ranked in the Class AAAA poll where Dunwoody is No. 1.
In Class AAAAA, Norcross jumped over South Gwinnett for the top spot.
