GAINESVILLE - Ten current or former Hall countians were singled out for special recognition over the weekend at the Restoration & Preservation Mission Committee's third annual banquet.<br>

One of a series of Black History Month events planned over the next few days in the Gainesville area, the banquet, which was held Saturday night, carried with it the theme "Wisdom and Hope." The focus was on persons deemed worthy of recognition for outstanding service to the preservation of the community. <br>

The honorees were Ashley Bell, Rev. Quincy Brown, Leslie Lipscomb, Renee Sweeney, and Carlos Velez. Also, Charles Ector, Gladystine Green, Rev. Robert Hopkins; Patricia Hudson; and, James Mathis, Senior. <br>
<br>
Guest speaker was Marcellus Barksdale, a Gainesville native, who is now a professor at Morehouse College in Atlanta.
