Lady War Eagles advance to play No. 1 Gainesville

BLUE RIDGE - Last week Chestatee girls coach Lewis Shirley said the biggest key to his young team's improvement was the play of sophomore Anna Bailey.

She proved it again Monday night in a 46-43 Region 7-AAA North play-in game win over Pickens County.

Bailey scored 18 points, including two big 3-pointers that helped the Lady War Eagles (10-14) overcame a 22-15 halftime deficit.

Chestatee advances to play Class AAA No. 1 Gainesville Tuesday night at Flowery Branch in the quarterfinals.

Chestatee hit three free throws in the final minute to preserve the win.

Virginia Hill added 11 points for Chestatee, including a 3-pointer that gave the Lady War Eagles the lead for good.
