Crumley shoots Lions into 8-A title game

HIAWASSEE - Will Crumley hit two free throws with :03 seconds lift the Lakeview Academy boys basketball team to a 36-35 win over Athens Academy Friday night in the semifinals of Region 8-A Tournament.

Lakeview will play No. 4 Jefferson Saturday night for the region title. The Dragons beat Lakeview twice during the regular season.

The win also means, barring an upset, the Lions will miss playing wither No. 1 Southwest Atlanta Christian or No. 2 Landmark Christian in the first round of the state tournament next week.

Crumley finished with just 9 points but none were bigger than the two at the end. Dustin Wellborn led Lakeview (17-7) with 15 points.

The Lions rallied from a 21-19 halftime deficit to tie the game at 27-27 heading into the fourth quarter.
