Williams leads GSU to win

CHARLESTON, S.C. - Terry Williams scored a career-high 25 points in a 82-76 Georgia Southern victory over College of Charleston Wednesday night.<br>

The Eagles (19-5, 10-3 Southern Conference) took an early lead, but the Cougars came back with a Stanley Jackson basket to get ahead at 17-15.<br>

College of Charleston (18-6, 10-4) led 24-17 with 10:06 left in the first half off a Mike Benton basket, but the Eagles went on a 9-1 run to pull ahead at 26-25.<br>

The Cougars responded with an unanswered nine-point run over the next two minutes to take a 34-26 lead on Tony Mitchell's jumper.<br>

Georgia Southern led by three points at halftime off a Marcus Byams lay up with two seconds left.<br>
<br>
The Eagles took the lead for good at 69-68 on a Williams three pointer with 5:28 to play. The Cougars came within two points twice. Georgia Southern went 6-for-7 from the foul line in the game's final 28 seconds to secure the win.<br>
<br>
Jean Francois tied his career-high 16 points for the Eagles.<br>
<br>
Tony Mitchell led the Cougars with 15 points and grabbed seven rebounds.<br>
<br>
Williams led all scorers with 20 first-half points, including 8-for-8 from the foul line and 4-for-6 from the 3-point line.
