Mother sentenced to life in baby's death

<p>The mother of a newborn found dead in a Douglas County garbage facility was sentenced to life in prison Wednesday after she pleaded guilty to the child's death.</p><p>Twenty-three-year-old Kelly Yanez gave no explanation why she killed the infant, but prosecutors said she gave birth to the boy and tried to conceal it because her husband was not the father.</p><p>Authorities said they would have sought the death penalty had Yanez not first pleaded guilty.</p><p>The child was found March 10 in a waste-hauling truck that was en route to a transfer station on Ga. 78 in Douglas County.</p><p>Yanez, who was originally from Texas, had lived in Georgia for a year at the time the baby was killed.</p>
