Gwinnett police released 911 records Friday that showed officers were called to the Corbin home for an "aggravated domestic" incident on Dec. 1, after Jennifer Corbin told a dispatcher that her husband, Barton Corbin, had left their home with some of her personal belongings and a shotgun.
On Dec. 4, she was found dead of a single gunshot wound to the head. Authorities initially said Jennifer Corbin killed herself but later determined it was a homicide.
Barton Corbin, a dentist who practices in Dacula and Gainesville, has been named the primary suspect in the slaying, but he has not been charged or arrested.
Police never made an incident report about the 911 call after deciding that no domestic violence took place, said Cpl. Dan Huggins.
"If she didn't make allegations of domestic violence, there would be no other reason to make a report," he said.
The victim's sister, Heather Tierney, said Jennifer told her that the couple had fought on Dec. 1 because she confronted her husband after finding out he went through her purse and took some items, including her cell phone.
Barton Corbin apparently became angry and left the home wearing only a towel. As Jennifer Corbin stood in the driveway, he backed over her foot with his Mustang, said Tierney, who added that police told her sister they couldn't do anything because she wasn't injured.
Authorities have not released the 911 audio tape because the investigation still is pending.
Court records show Barton Corbin had filed for a divorce on Nov. 29, seeking custody of their two sons and ownership of the home. Affidavits filed last week by several of Jennifer Corbin's family members allege that Barton Corbin called his wife names and punched her in the face in front of their children.
Barton Corbin's attorneys, Stephen Rogers and Doug Peters, have maintained his innocence and said the affidavits are not reliable because the family members simply were to gain temporary custody of the boys.
Meanwhile, Richmond County authorities are taking a closer look at the death of his former girlfriend, Dorothy Hearn, who was found dead in her Augusta apartment on July 6, 1990. The 28-year-old Hearn was dating Corbin at the time, police said.
Richmond Sheriff's Sgt. Scott Peebles said investigators never were able to determine whether Hearn's death was a suicide or a
