Two Miami Players Unhurt After Car Crash

Miami linebacker Willie Williams and defensive back Rashaun Jones escaped injury Sunday when Williams lost control of his vehicle while driving to join the Hurricanes for bowl preparations in Atlanta.<br> <br> The crash happened about two hours south of Atlanta and Williams and Jones eventually reached the team hotel, athletic department spokesman Mark Pray said.<br> <br> &#34;They&#39;re fine, which is the important thing,&#34; Pray said. &#34;They were somewhere in Georgia, there was ice on the roads and Willie started hydroplaning.&#34;<br> <br> Pray said no tickets were issued, but Williams&#39; truck was heavily damaged. Sleet and freezing rain were blamed for many accidents on Georgia roads over the Christmas weekend.<br> <br> No other details of the crash were immediately available.<br> <br> Jones is a regular on Miami&#39;s special teams, and is expected to play in Friday&#39;s Peach Bowl against Florida. He has recovered two blocked punts this year for Miami, including one for a touchdown against Wake Forest.<br> <br> Williams, the once-heralded recruit whose enrollment at Miami was threatened by his lengthy arrest record and who will not play this season because of a knee injury, resumed practicing last week, Pray said.<br> <br> Williams has been scrutinized since he signed with the Hurricanes and his history - including theft and burglary arrests dating back to 1999 - was revealed. <br> <br> He pleaded no contest over the summer to two separate charges stemming from last year&#39;s official recruiting visit to Florida and was placed on probation. A university panel ultimately recommended that Miami admit Williams, provided he followed a strict set of rules to both remain a student and keep his scholarship.<br> <br> School officials have said Williams is adhering to all university conditions, including enhanced academic standards and ones regarding his behavior on- and off-campus.
