South Carolina 70, Coastal Carolina 50

(AP) Melanie Johnson scored a career-high 18 points, grabbed 18 rebounds and had five steals to lead South Carolina to a 70-50 victory over Coastal Carolina on Wednesday night in the first round of the Carolina Classic.<br> <br> Coastal Carolina (3-5) led for most of the second half and was ahead 45-40 with 10:37 remaining before South Carolina went on a 30-5 run to put the game away.<br> <br> Courtney Brown and Jasmine Tyler scored 12 points apiece for the Chanticleers.<br> <br> The Gamecocks (5-6) will play Seton Hall, which beat Campbell 59-41, in the finals Thursday. Campbell will face Coastal Carolina in the consolation game.
