The meeting will be held at the Gainesville Civic Center at 5:15. The Wal-Mart question is the final item on a six-item agenda.
Opposition to the location of the store at Thompson Bridge Road and Southers Road has intensified over the past few weeks as the date for the planning board's meeting drew closer.
Opponents say the store will have an adverse impact on property values and on traffic in an already congested area. Wal-Mart officials say their studies show Thompson Bridge Road can handle the increase traffic the store would bring with it and add nearly $3 million to the county's tax base while creating about 475 jobs - about 75 percent of them full time.
