North Hall girls face tough road in 7-AAA South

MURRAYVILLE - The North Hall girls basketball team was not done any favors this season when it was moved from the Region 7-AAA North subregion down to the South.<br> <br> Gainesville, Johnson and Flowery Branch, the Lady Trojans&#39; new subregion counterparts, are ranked 1, 2 and 3 in the state in the first Class AAA preseason poll.<br> <br> Gainesville won its third AAA state title in the last four years last season beating fellow Region 7-AAA team Fannin County in the finals. Johnson and Flowery Branch both advanced to the Elite Eight last season.<br> <br> Last year the Lady Trojans finished the season third in 7-AAA North with a<br> 10-11 overall record but 6-4 in the subregion.<br> <br> North Hall will open its season Saturday night in Dahlonega against Lumpkin County. The The Lady Indians opened their season Friday night against East Hall, losing 43-23.<br> <br> North Hall coach Debbie Blake said she feels confident about the upcoming season because of their offseason work.<br> <br> &#34;We worked hard all summer, worked on defense all summer. We are concentrating on defense, defense, defense,&#34; Blake said.<br> <br> One of the key players for the Lady Trojans will be point guard Lindsey Kitchens, who will miss the first game of the season with an injured left foot. She hopes to be back for the White County Tournament.<br> <br> &#34;I&#39;m going to rest her now. I&#39;d rather her be out now than later,&#34; Blake said.<br> <br> Other players that will be seeing playing time this season will be Catie Coker, Beth Ann Hamilton, Haliegh Bower, and Mary Lynn Romine. Also, Courtney Cooper, Lauren Armor, and Laticia Davenport who will start at center.
