FLOWERY BRANCH - Flowery Branch has settled on a new city manager.

The city council meets in special session Thursday and the city manager question is on the agenda.

The choice for the job is Chris Rainwater, former city manager in Blakely, Georgia. Rainwater resigned that post in April. He will replace Tim Gillette who announced his resignation earlier this year.

According to the City of Blakely Web site, Rainwater is credited with turning around the city's finances, "taking bold measures in the fight against blight elimination, and ensuring that City Hall is in touch with the citizens."

It quotes Rainwater as saying he was disappointed to be leaving Blakely after only a year on the job, but he looks forward to the challenges that wait for him in another city.
