GAINESVILLE - The recently retired President and CEO of Northeast Georgia Medical Center was presented with the Good New Community Health Center's Good Samaritan Award Wednesday.

In presenting the award to John Ferguson, Good News board chairman Kevin Price noted "the compassion he has shown to those needing medical care in our community."

Ferguson retired earlier this year after 40 years with the medical center - 36 as President and CEO.

"John has striven to provide a high quality of medical care to the broadest group of people possible," Price said. "John has been a good and constant friend of Good News Community Health Center from the start and much of what we have we owe to John Ferguson."

Price, at a luncheon at Luna's honoring Ferguson, went on to say, "Our patients do not know who John Ferguson is but those of
us gathered here today know the impact he has had on the least of these who we serve."

The clinic provides free health and dental care to the area's needy.
