Skip Caray says he is feeling better about his upcoming 29th season broadcasting Braves games now that he has been equipped with a new pacemaker that helps him everywhere but airports.

Caray will again call Braves games on radio and television.

Caray, 64, missed part of the 2002 season while recovering from an angioplasty that cleared a clogged artery in his heart. About six weeks ago he was equipped with a pacemaker to correct a slow heartbeat.

I feel better, Caray told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. This increases my energy level much higher than its been.

Caray said the only downside is the device triggers metal detectors at airports.

Following the angioplasty, Caray enjoyed improved health last season, but he was limited to mostly radio work early in the year after Turner Sports limited his TV assignments to games on Turner South.

Predictably, complaints from fans brought Caray back to TBS games following the All-Star break.

Caray says he understands TBS was attempting to project a more neutral broadcast to attract a more national audience. In the process, the network upset Braves fans.

I see what theyre trying to do, Caray said. They want to make it a national telecast. We all want to attract the biggest audience.

But its difficult to do when its the same team every day.

Caray says he expects to continue the normal rotation with Pete Van Wieren, Don Sutton and Joe Simpson that the crew assumed in the second half of last season.

Caray added he didnt find out about last years changes until two days before the season.
