Damaris Kinlaws worst fears were realized Sunday when she was abducted for the second time in a month by her former husband, police said.

And unlike Jan. 1 _ when the 39-year-old Kinlaw was released unharmed _ she is thought to be injured and a companion was killed Sunday, police said.

In both incidents, 52-year-old Harold Dean Kinlaw of White Oak is the suspect, Brunswick police Lt. David Carswell said.

Neighbor Donna Gordon was in her home when she heard what sounded like shots from directly across the street at 2100 Parkwood Ave.

I heard something go pop, pop ... pop, pop, Gordon told the Georgia Times-Union. This tall man, I saw a tall man pull a woman around the back of the truck and force her inside. He sped off down Parkwood.

Gordon said she ran across the street to where a woman she knows as Maria was screaming for help.

Maria was screaming for an ambulance. I didnt know why, Gordon said. Seconds later, she saw the shooting victim lying inside the carport.

Glynn County Coroner Jimmy Durden said he found the man lying behind the draped plastic and pronounced him dead at 12:30 p.m.

Carswell said the victim was a Hispanic man in his 50s who was employed by the U.S. Bureau of Customs and Border Protection.

The red truck Gordon saw belonged to Damaris Kinlaw, police said. The truck was abandoned about four blocks away at Southeast Georgia Health Systems Brunswick hospital, Brunswick police Sgt. Kevin Jones said.

Jones said a witness at the hospital saw Harold Kinlaw drag Damaris Kinlaw into a van. Police believe it is the same white Chevrolet van that authorities have been looking for since Jan. 1, when Damaris Kinlaw was abducted at knifepoint and later released in Darien.

Gordon and the witness at the hospital said Damaris Kinlaw appeared to hold one of her arms as if it were injured. Jones said police do not know if Damaris Kinlaw was injured by the gunfire.

St. Marys police also have warrants on Kinlaw for kidnapping, aggravated assault with a firearm, rape and stalking.

Harold Kinlaw is thought to be driving a white 1993 or 1994 Chevrolet Astro van with gray interior, black pinstripes and a broken drivers-side window that had been covered with plastic. The van also had numerous scratches and dents on the passenger side.

Jones said Harold Kinlaw has family in North Carolina and in Miami and could be driving toward either destination.
