A break in freezing temps, but...

GAINESVILLE - If it seemed warmer Friday morning than in recent days, it was. In fact, it was the first morning in the last eleven days that the low was not at or below freezing.

The low in Gainesville was 39 Friday morning, ending a streak of freezing or below temperatures stretching back to January 19. The lowest reading during that period was 22 degrees on January 20. But, wind chills during the period were - for North Georgia - brutal at times, dipping close to single digits on occasion.

But, don't get too comfortable: some forecasts call for a return to freezing temperatures this weekend coupled with the possiblity of some freezing precipitation by Monday.

Another extended period of freezing temperatures is expected following that.
