Weekend events planned for Lanier Canoe 2003 entrants

GAINESVILLE - Two events are scheduled this weekend as the teams entered in the Olympic qualifier coming up next week on Lake Lanier continue to arrive in Gainesville.

The Gainesville Kiwanis and Rotary clubs will host a reception for athletes from developing nations Saturday.

On Sunday, at the Lake Lanier Olympic Center, the venue for Lanier Canoe 2003, a beachside party complete with live music will be staged to officially welcome the athletes to town.

The competition begins next Thursday.
