Ploeger eliminated in third round

BRISTOL, VA - Bill Ploeger of Columbus made it to the third round of the U.S. Senior Amateur Championship, but that is as far as he got. <br> <br> The 63-year-old Ploeger was eliminated Tuesday by Edward Craig of Orlando. Craig took the match one-up to advance to the quarterfinals at The Virginian Golf Club in Briston, Virginia. <br> <br> Ploeger was the 1999 champion and the runner-up in 2001. He won his second-round match Tuesday by beating Gary Kopriciva of Missoula, Montana, 6 and 5.
