COLUMBIA, SOUTH CAROLINA - South Carolina wide receiver Matthew Thomas has been reinstated, five months after he was suspended following his arrest on a simple assault charge.
Thomas, a junior from Pearson, Ga., was cleared Monday to resume team-related activities.
He had been suspended in March after a female student accused him of grabbing her in a dormitory in February.
Thomas successfully completed the Pre-Trial Intervention Program that will remove the misdemeanor from his record, South Carolina coaches said.
Thomas still will face some disciplinary measures within the South Carolina program, coach Lou Holtz said.
Thomas appeared in nine games last year at receiver and cornerback.
``He came over the other day and took the (strength and conditioning) test and passed it in a breeze and is bigger and stronger than he's ever been,'' Holtz said.
