TALLAHASSEE, FLORIDA - No. 13 Florida State was forced to cut Monday's practice short after temperatures topped 90 degrees and caused two players to be removed from drills.
Guard Bobby Meeks and wide receiver Craphonso Thorpe were removed because of the heat just one week after several players, including linebacker Michael Boulware, battled heat-related ailments and were unable to finish practice.
``The heat got to a couple of our kids so we cut off our conditioning,'' coach Bobby Bowden said. ``Last Monday we had very much the same thing and went ahead and conditioned and that's when we had all those kids who had to have IVs.''
No. 13 Florida State opens the season in Chapel Hill against North Carolina on Saturday.
Temperatures have forced the Seminoles to slightly alter their weekly practice schedule, Bowden said.
``We tried to have a pretty tough practice (Monday),'' Bowden said. ``We usually have them on Tuesday but we decided to go ahead and start having them Monday so we can kind of slack down throughout the week.''

Monday was also the first day of classes at Florida State, so class conflicts forced the Seminoles to make some lineup adjustments while second-team tailback and top kick-returner Leon Washington sat out practice.
Bowden said he expects Washington, who went down with a leg injury during Friday's scrimmage, to be ready for the opener against the Tar Heels.
