Marlins' Lowell out with broken hand

MIAMI - Florida's All-Star third baseman Mike Lowell is expected to miss the rest of the regular season after breaking his left hand, a huge blow to the Marlins' playoff hopes. <br>

Lowell was hit by Hector Almonte's pitch in the eighth inning of Florida's 4-3 win over the Montreal Expos Saturday night. He left the game and was taken for X-rays, which showed a broken bone. <br>
<br>
Lowell was to be examined by a hand specialist Sunday He leads the surprising Marlins with 32 homers and 105 RBIs, both career highs. He's hitting .277 this season.
