RIVERDALE - Authorities were searching Sunday for a 3-year-old girl considered to be in "extreme danger," and her stepfather was named as a suspect in the alleged abduction.
Anjelica Gomez was last seen home Saturday morning, the girl's mother, Graciela Esiquio, told police. Anjelica's 32-year-old stepfather, Efrain Romero Esiquio, was later seen leaving with Anjelica and left behind a threatening letter, police said.
"He left a note for (the mother) stating that he is going to make their life miserable," said Clayton County police Capt. Jeff Turner early Sunday morning.
A neighbor spotted Esiquio and Anjelica leaving the home at about 9 a.m. Saturday, Turner said. The mother said she discovered the note Saturday evening and called police.
So far, police have no leads in the case, Turner said.
Police said Anjelica was last seen wearing purple pants, a green T-shirt and white and pink Barbie shoes. Esiquio is 5 feet, 6 inches tall, weighing 215 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black shirt with black shorts.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation also is investigating the case.
