Broncos' Carswell waives evidentiary hearing

ATLANTA - Denver Broncos tight end Dwayne Carswell waived his right to a hearing Tuesday to determine whether there was enough evidence to arrest him on domestic violence charges, court officials said. <br> <br> The move means Carswell, 31, will next appear in state court to enter a plea on charges of domestic violence battery and obstruction of an officer, said Rebecca Smith in the criminal warrants division of Fulton County magistrate court. <br> <br> A date for that hearing had not been scheduled Tuesday. <br> <br> Carswell was arrested Friday after he picked up girlfriend Nkeiruka Anyamone, 25, by the neck outside a bar in the city&#39;s Buckhead district, according to a court complaint. A notation on the complaint says the woman suffered a bite wound to the right arm and was later treated by medical personnel. <br> <br> Carswell was released Saturday on $2,500 bail. <br> <br> The NFL could suspend Carswell if he is convicted or pleads guilty to a violent crime. A league spokesman, Greg Aiello, told the Rocky Mountain News that officials were trying to determine whether Carswell is a repeat offender. <br> <br> Carswell was sentenced to a year of probation after grabbing a former girlfriend by the neck in 1998. He was also arrested in Pueblo in 2000 for allegedly grabbing another woman by the arms and hair; charges were dismissed after he agreed to pay restitution and do community service.
