Commuter rail hearings set

UNDATED - The first of three public hearings planned this week on a proposed Athens-Atlanta commuter rail line that would pass through Barrow and Gwinnett counties will be held Monday in Athens. <br>

It will be held at the Classic Center between 5:00 and 8:00.<br>
<br>
The meetings are sponsored by the Georgia Department of Transportation, the Georgia Rail Passenger Authority, and the Georgia Regional Transportation Authority. <br>
<br>
Another hearing will be held Tuesday in Atlanta at Emory University and the third is planned Wednesday at the Gwinnett County Justice and Administration Center.<br>
<br>
Officials say the "open meeting" format, using no formal presentations, will provide details, including photos, maps, and charts/graphs of the route, cost, timetable and impact of the proposed 72-mile corridor.
