KENNESAW - David Noll made his return to amateur golf a successful one, holding off Thomas Hagler by one shot yesterday to win the 82nd Georgia Amateur Championship at Pinetree Country Club.
The 31-year-old Noll regained his amateur status in 2001 after playing what he called - quote - ``about every mini-tour out there.''

He finished second in last year's state Mid-Amateur Championship and was the runner-up at the Southeastern Amateur earlier this year.

Noll said- quote - ``This is forever. To be the Georgia Amateur champion, you go down in history.''
Noll closed with a final-round 71, and Hagler, a member of the Augusta State golf team, had an even-par 72.
David Robinson finished two shots behind in third, and Jeff Knox was another stroke back. Chase Jones was fifth, five shots behind Noll.
