GALLOWAY, N.J. - Luke List of Ringgold, Georgia, is tied for eighth place - six strokes off the lead - after the first round of the U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship. <br>

List, an 18-year-old U.S. Open qualifier who is signed to play at Vanderbilt, shot a one-under-par 70 Monday at the Blue Heron Pines Golf Club in New Jersey. <br>

He is tied with two others, including Aaron Black of Aiken, South Carolina, six strokes behind Jeff Overton of Evansville, Indiana, who shot a record-tying, 7-under 64. <br>
<br>
Chris Wheeler of Allen, Texas, had a 66. Two others had 68s and three shot two-under 69s in the first round.
