NORTH LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS - Arkansas football coach Houston Nutt said Wednesday his team was looking forward to the start of the 2003 football season and expects to open training next month excited at the opportunity to improve.
The Razorbacks shared the Southeastern Conference Western Division title last year and represented the division at the SEC championship game in Atlanta. Arkansas lost that game to Georgia and went on to lose the Music City Bowl to Minnesota.

``We didn't like the way we finished,'' Nutt told Associated Press-member sports writers at their annual meeting. ``We didn't send our seniors off the right way.''
Arkansas State coach Steve Roberts was to speak to the writers Wednesday afternoon.
Nutt said members of his team have been volunteering for extra work outs this summer and appear ready to suit up.
``They're excited, jumping around,'' Nutt said.
Arkansas' 2003 schedule is one of its toughest ever with games at Texas, at Alabama and at home against Auburn and Florida in a six-week period. Also in that stretch is North Texas, a bowl team the last two seasons.

``I'd rather have Louisiana-Monroe instead of Texas,'' Nutt said. ``North Texas (has) a lot of good second and third athletes'' that were not signed to scholarships by major schools like Texas or Texas A&M.
Nutt said the Razorbacks would have to use Matt Jones and Ryan Sorahan at quarterback, but that Jones is likely to direct the team in critical situations.
``He is the best sandlot player in the world. He can improvise. He is not first team all-conference, he doesn't have the numbers ... but you're going to see an exciting offense,'' Nutt said.
