ELLIJAY - Agents with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and Appalachian Circuit District Attorney's Office arrested the East Ellijay Police Chief Monday afternoon.

Larry Seabolt, 54, is charged with insurance fraud, false statements and violation of oath of office.

He allegedly falsified an accident report and provided the report to the driver so it could be filed with an insurance company. The driver, Steve West, 42, was also arrested Monday and charged with insurance fraud and false statement.

Agents said they made another discovery in the case.

"We uncovered information indicating that chief Seabolt had agreed to dispose of or reduce traffic citations in exchange for sexual favors," GBI special Agent in Charge John Cagle said.

"We've been provided information indicating that there are others who might have been issued citations by East Ellijay Police officers who have been solicited by Chief Seabolt and promised to reduce or otherwise dispose of their charges," Cagle said.

Cagle said anyone with additional information in the case should contact them.
